Mercy Softball Finished in 3rd Place at the Jackson Lions Club Dandelion Days Softball Classic
Over the weekend the Bears took part in the 23rd Annual Jackson Lions Club Dandelion Softball Classic. On Friday the Bears continued their hot streak with the bats beating Galt 17-7. Vivianna Reyes '28 hit a 2 run homerun and Isabel Reburiano '28 had a critical double that busted the game wide open scoring 2 runs. Later that evening the Bears played against one of the host schools in Argonaut. It seemed like the entire town came out to support as they backed their trucks behind the outfield fence and piled into the stands. The game saw stellar pitching performance by Olivia Eastburn '29, going 6 innings, giving up 4 hits, 4 runs (2 earned). Fatafehi Alusa '29 went 3-3 at the plate, with a 3 run homer, double, and single. Her homerun occurred in top of the 1st, it was a shot heard around the mountain as it set the tone for the game as they went on to win 8-4. On Saturday the Bears lost to Calaveras, in a hard fought battle Melina Antonio '28 and Vivianna Reyes '28 kept the bats alive and really lead the team in keeping the energy up with solid hits. In the final game Mercy beat Amador 5-3. Stellar performance on the mound from Charlotte Kell '28, going 5 innings and giving up 3 earned runs. Vivianna Reyes '28, yet again, was the stable performance at the plate and the field with key hits leading the Bears off. She was named to the All Tournament Team and a 3rd place finish on the weekend.
