Mercy Softball Prevails in the Battle of Burlingame
Mercy prevails in the Battle of Burlingame. The Bears put together a dominant performance on Wednesday, defeating Burlingame 9-1 behind a powerful offensive showing and strong pitching. Isabel Reburiano '28 led the charge at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two singles. She capped off the day with a blast to right field in the seventh inning to help seal the win. Mercy struck first in the second inning when Charlotte Kell '28 tripled to bring home a run. Burlingame answered in the fourth with a solo home run to tie the game, but the Bears quickly responded. In the fifth, Fatafehi Alusa '29 delivered an RBI single, followed by a two-run home run from Andrea Martin '26 to give Mercy a 4-1 lead. The Bears broke things open in the sixth inning when Vivianna Reyes '28 launched a three-run home run to extend the lead. Isabel Reburiano '28 added two more runs in the seventh with her home run, putting the game firmly out of reach. Charlotte Kell '28 was outstanding both at the plate and in the circle, earning the win after striking out seven over four and two-thirds innings while allowing just one run. Olivia Eastburn '29 came in to close things out and secure the save.
Offensively, Mercy tallied 14 hits, with Charlotte Kell '28 leading the way with a perfect 4-for-4 performance. Vivianna Reyes '28 drove in three runs, while Fatafehi Alusa '29 and Isabel Reburiano '28 each added multiple hits.
