Bear Necessities Volume 22
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to support both of our spirit squads as they competed. Our Cheer and Dance teams have been working together since June, when practices first began, and in July they each attended camp to prepare for the year ahead. Throughout the fall, these athletes balance dual responsibilities, serving as ambassadors for our community while supporting Serra on the football sidelines and during half time. In October, they are always a highlight of our annual Dig Pink Volleyball Game, bringing energy and school spirit to the event.
In the winter the squads continue their support at basketball games, including the annual Jungle Game in January, while also shifting into competition mode. Representing the Bears at both regional and national events, these athletes take on long seasons and their hard work does not go unnoticed.
On Saturday, our Dance Team delivered an outstanding performance in the Varsity Hip Hop Division at the USA Northern California Regional, earning a first-place finish. Later that evening, our Cheer Team took the mat at the CIF State Championships, showcasing their talent on the biggest stages.
I am incredibly proud of both teams and look forward to continuing to support them through the remainder of their competition seasons. Their commitment, energy, and representation of Mercy truly embody what it means to be a Bear.
