Bear Necessities Volume 21
Our athletic programs continue to grow in a positive direction, both in participation and competitive ability. This winter marked the return of our Junior Varsity Basketball Team. Welcoming this team back has been an exciting step forward, and it has been encouraging to see them competing once again this season. The team earned its first victory of the season against Presentation. This past Friday I had the opportunity to drive the team to their game, which provided a chance to connect with our student-athletes. During the drive, there was an excitement about the future of the program, including enthusiasm for next season and appreciation for the ease of practicing on our own campus.
After dropping the team off, I returned to campus to attend the Varsity Soccer match against Pinewood. The game was a hard-fought contest that ended in a 4–2 victory, moving the team to a 2–0–1 record and placing them second in league standings. The team has been exciting to watch all season, but one of the most meaningful moments consistently occurs after the final whistle. Following handshakes, the captains lead the team in a jog across the field to thank their parents. Last Friday, parents greeted the players with a standing ovation, acknowledging their effort and teamwork.
